Comparative detoxication. The detoxication of aromatic acids by invertebrates: detection of agmatine conjugates in scorpions.

چکیده
1. Benzoic acid and p-nitrobenzoic acid were converted in the scorpion Palamnaeus into N(1)-benzoylagmatine and N(1)-p-nitrobenzoylagmatine. 2. Some benzoyl- and p-nitrobenzoyl-arginine were also formed and these compounds were probable precursors of the agmatine derivatives. 3. p-Nitrobenzoyl- and p-aminobenzoyl-arginine were formed in millipedes dosed with the aromatic acids. 4. Woodlice excreted p-amino- and p-nitro-benzoic acid as their glycine conjugates and no conjugation could be found in the crab Gecarcinus and a freshwater crayfish Astacus.

Studies in detoxication: 14. The metabolism of veratraldehyde and veratric acid in the rabbit.
The work described in this paper had two objectives. First, it was hoped that a more stable aroylglucuronide (veratroylglucuronide and anisoylglucuronide) than benzoylglucuronide (Quick, 1926; Pryde & Williams, 1933; Goebel, 1938) could be prepared for constitutional studies. In the second place, it was considered possible' that a comparative study of the metabolism of veratric acid (3:4-dimeth...
متن کاملThe use of magnetite nanoparticles in applied medicine
Nowadays nanotechnology as a new direction of science allows us to develop therapeutic methods of the endogenous intoxication syndrome and to create a new class of biocompatible sorbents. In Ukraine first preparations of medical nanotechnology were produced and patented in 1998. These are IKBB (intracorporeal biocorrector), magnet-controlled sorbent (MCS-B), and Micromage-B. The preparations ar...
متن کاملThe Mast Cell Reaction in Mouse Skin to Some Organic Chemicals*t III. The Early Effect of Aromatic Hydrocarbons
In a previous paper (31) the temporary depletion of the granular substance of the dermal mast cells was reported, following the application oI benzene to the skin of mice. This reaction failed in response to alcohol, ether, and acetone. Continued studies indicate that a similar reaction on the part of the tissue mast cells can be elicited by some other aromatic hydrocarbons, and is herein descr...
